Worthing Branch Sea Sunday.12.08.07

Worthing Sea SundayTaking the SaluteOn the windiest 1st July, the Branch held their Sea Sunday on Worthing sea front. Under the watchful eye of the parade commander S/M Tony Avery the Standard Bearers, TS SCC Band and Shipmates mustered at Splash Point. The wind which was gusting at many knots over a safe speed, meant that the Standards remained furled, but with the SCC band playing superbly and keeping the pace down for us old uns.

The Parade marched down to the Pier where the Mayor of Worthing Councillor Heather Mercer took the Salute accompanied by her Consort Cllr Keith Mercer, CESA President Major Tom Wye and Area 3 Padre Reverend David Farrant. With the wind still gusting, the Sea Sunday Service on the end of Worthing Pier could not take place, but thanks to the Manager of the Denton Lounge the Service was held inside the Denton Lounge. After the Service it was "Up Spirits" and refreshments were served.
